To summarise, this unit on technical translation of Commerce and Financial Document gives a brief introduction to an important area of application of the governmental decision to implement our Official Language act and gives an outline of the present status of its application in the area of business and trade.
Technical terminology has always posed challenges to the translators. The problems in this area and their different solutions give us an idea as to how to resolve them in specific contexts such as banking, commerce and finance. An entire section has been devoted here on this issue.
The discussion on Commercialese is presented here by quoting from various documents. Specimens are provided to raise problems of bilingual or monolingual forms or documents, which pose problems for the customer because of their ambiguity and inappropriate translation.
