413.4.0 : AIMS,OBJECTIVES & STRUCTURE
 
     The aim of this unity is to study about the collection of material for the compilation of a dictionary. Collection of materials is a very important phase in dictionary-making. This unit also discusses various factors and variable involved in the material collection. It deals with two basic things, viz. (i)where to collect and (ii)how to collect, or in other words, sources and methods of collection. The sources of collection vary depending upon the type of dictionary. It also depends upon whether the language in which the dictionary is planned is a written language or an unwritten speech. Finally, the unit also discusses the various problems in the methods of collection.
