ACADEMIC COURSES
Post Graduate Diploma in Translation Studies(PGDTS)
(Originally of Center for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad)
This is a Postgraduate Diploma Course in Translation Studies. Fairly comprehensive, it covers almost everything that is to be said about translation as a phenomenon: Its history,
its various facets and ramification, its relationship with culture, society,linguistics, epistemology, poetics,aesthetics, the machine and so on.
This has six modules. Only the first two have been put here. Four others will be put on the Net by and by.
The Center for Translation Studies (CTS) at CIEFL, Hyderabad, offers the following two Diploma Programmes :
Diploma in Translation Advanced Diploma in Professional Translation
The CTS is also going to offer Post-Graduate Diploma in Translation Studies from the next academic year, i.e., August, 2002.
At the moment these programmes are restricted to only two language pairs-French - English and English - Telugu. However, one more pair of languages - German - English is likely to be added from the next academic year. The details regarding these three programmes are given below :

with at least Grade "C" or GPA 2.5 (or its equivalent qualification from a
recognized University/Institute) in the specified language(s) ; and an excellent
command of English
OR
- In the case of students of Indian Languages : An excellent command of English and the specified Indian Language (s)
All candidates will be required to take a written Entrance Test.
